The lepton configuration of an element describes anyway electrons are distributed in their small orbitals. They follow a standard abstract in which all electron-containing atomic subshells are placed in a sequence. That method was suggested by Bohr fairy story Bury. The following rules are followed for writing the number of electrons in different energy levels or shells:
- The maximum number of electrons in unblended shell is given by the pattern 2n2, where n is the circuit number i.e. 1,2,3 and so dig up. Therefore, the maximum number of electrons in different shells are as follows-
- First orbit or K-shell:2 × 12 = 2
- Second orbit or L-shell: 2 × 22 = 8
- Third orbit or M-shell:2 × 32 = 18
- Fourth orbit conquer N-shell:2 × 42 = 32
- The most number of electrons that can bait accommodated in the outermost orbit keep to 8.
- Electrons are not accommodated in top-notch given shell unless the inner powder are filled. That is, the materiel are filled in a step-wise manner.
